4 critical points for HR
Right level → right training plan → right ROI
The four core problems HR managers face in the English training process — and how the Flalingo Corporate Check-Up solves each one.
I can't measure the right level
All 5 skills at once, an adaptive flow
Instead of a generic 25-question online test, 8 adaptive items measure grammar, vocabulary, reading, cohesion and speaking together. The result isn't a single label: level + confidence interval (e.g. 'B1, 72% confidence, B1–B2') — and borderline employees are clearly flagged.
CEFR A1–C1, with confidence interval
I can't build a level-based training plan
CEFR distribution + skill breakdown in the dashboard
The whole team's level distribution on one screen. Filter by department, location or manager; an intensive program for an A2-heavy team, business English for the B2 band — you build your training plan on data, not guesswork.
Segment by department/manager
I can't optimize the training budget
Right level = right package = right ROI
An employee placed at the wrong level either gets overwhelmed (drop-off) or repeats what they already know (wasted spend). With accurate placement, every employee enters a package suited to their band; your training budget holds, and you get measurable progress by year-end.
Lowers drop-off and overspend risk
The operational overhead is too high
HR's only job: uploading a CSV
Invitations, reminders, follow-up, report generation — all automatic. No calling employees, no Excel tracking, no IT integration. Domain-locked security drives the risk of inviting an outside person to zero.
Zero manual follow-up · 5–8 min/employee
Most online level tests are generic; our difference is that we genuinely support HR's professional training planning with a more comprehensive, more accurate structure that's reportable on a dashboard.
Check-Up in 3 steps
HR's only job: uploading a CSV
Invitation emails, reminders, follow-up, report generation — all automatic. No Excel tracking, no chasing employees, no spending minutes writing emails.
- ADIM 01

Upload your CSV
Download the template and fill in your employee name–email list. The system automatically filters out off-domain, invalid or personal addresses.
HR effort: ~5 minutes
- ADIM 02

Automatic invites + reminders
Each employee receives a personal, one-click login link. Those who don't finish get automatic reminders on day 3 and day 7.
Zero manual follow-up
- ADIM 03

CEFR report ready
Once all employees finish, HR gets a 'report ready' notification. CEFR distribution, skill breakdown and PDF export are right in your dashboard.
5 – 7 days on average
Domain-locked security: The system only sends invitations to the corporate email domain of the HR manager who signs up (e.g. @yourcompany.com). The risk of accidentally inviting an outside person is zero.
The pedagogy behind the test
Why it's different from an ordinary online test
A CEFR-calibrated item bank, IRT-based adaptive selection and confidence-interval reporting. Cambridge-style placement reliability in just 5–8 minutes per employee.
Adaptive flow
- 01
Start: B1
Begins at θ = 3.0 (intermediate); shifts dynamically with each correct or incorrect answer.
- 02
8 adaptive questions
After each answer, the next question is drawn from the 5 items closest to the user's updated θ.
- 03
Level gate
If θ < 2.5, A1–A2: no speaking is shown. If θ ≥ 2.5, B1+: a short speaking section.
- 04
Result
CEFR level + confidence interval + skill breakdown. Borderline levels are flagged with a 'boundary' label.
Adaptive difficulty
The difficulty of the next question changes automatically with every answer. It's a simplified version of the IRT logic used in Cambridge, Pearson Linguaskill and TOEFL — more reliable placement in 8 questions than in 25.
IRT-based (θ updating)
Balanced measurement across 5 skills
Not just grammar: grammar, vocabulary, reading, cohesion and functional language together. Each question measures a single construct — a grammar item isn't needlessly weighed down by difficult words, and a vocab item isn't buried in tangled syntax.
8 drawn from 94 calibrated items
Calibrated distractors
Wrong options aren't random; they represent typical learner errors or words that are close but inappropriate. Answering by guessing is deliberately reduced.
Arranged by typical L2 errors
Confidence-interval result
Instead of a single label, the level + a confidence interval is reported. An employee on the borderline (e.g. between A2 and B1) automatically comes back with a 'boundary' flag — so HR doesn't route them to the wrong package.
Confidence %, range (B1–B2, etc.)
Cheat-resistant design
No correct/incorrect feedback is shown until the test ends (motivation and behavior stay intact). The question bank is server-side; the answer key is never sent to the client. The same question won't reappear for the same user within 30 days.
Server-side theta + item shuffling
Speaking only when needed
An A1–A2 employee never enters the speaking section (no wasted time). B1 and above run productive validation with Azure Pronunciation Assessment + a CEFR-calibrated AI rubric.
Adaptive speaking gate (≥ B1)
The test is not an official certificate; it's a short, pedagogically balanced CEFR estimate designed for HR placement. For borderline results, the report clearly recommends a longer version.
The real CEFR report that lands in HR's hands — the view you see in the dashboard
Below is a real sample report that Flalingo's AI engine (FLAI) generated after an assessment. The same level of detail is produced automatically for every single member of your team.

The screenshot above is an example of the real report an HR manager sees in the corporate dashboard.

- Most online tests run on a generic 25-question fixed format and only measure grammar. We're adaptive: 8 questions get dynamically harder based on the employee's level; grammar, vocabulary, reading, cohesion and (for B1+) speaking are assessed together. The result isn't a single label — it comes as level + confidence interval + skill breakdown. In the HR dashboard you can filter by department/manager and build your training plan on data.
