You’re at a logistics conference in Amsterdam, and the coffee break is your chance to meet a potential client. She manages deliveries for an international company, while you represent a business that serves shipping teams. You have just 100 seconds to start a conversation, find a connection and suggest talking again.

Networking can feel stressful when you’re speaking English: you need to introduce yourself clearly, explain what your company does and respond to a problem you didn’t expect. In this free Speedrun Mission, you’ll practise talking about late deliveries, sharing a way to reach you and proposing a follow-up call before the break ends.

Co musisz powiedzieć

  1. Introduce yourself
    • “Hi, my name is Deniz.”
    • “Hello, you can call me Maya.”
    • “I'm Ali. Nice to meet you.”
  2. Introduce your company
    • “I work for a logistics software company. We help teams plan deliveries.”
    • “Our company makes tools for shipping teams.”
    • “I represent a firm that helps companies manage deliveries.”
  3. Find a shared challenge
    • “We also deal with late deliveries.”
    • “Our clients have the same problem with shipment delays.”
    • “That sounds familiar. We both want more reliable delivery times.”
  4. Share your contact details
    • “My email is deniz at example dot com.”
    • “You can reach me at maya at example dot com.”
    • “Here is my business card with my phone number.”
  5. Suggest a follow-up call
    • “Could we have a short call next Tuesday?”
    • “Let's schedule a video call next week.”
    • “Would you have time for a follow-up phone call tomorrow?”

Najczęściej zadawane pytania

How do I introduce myself to a potential client in English?

Start with your name, then give the other person a chance to respond: “Hi, I’m Maya. Nice to meet you.” A greeting on its own doesn’t tell them who you are. Once you’ve exchanged names, you can briefly explain what your company does.

How can I explain what my company does in simple English?

Use a short sentence with a clear verb: “We make tools for shipping teams” or “We help companies plan deliveries.” You don’t need technical terms or a long pitch. In this mission, you can invent your company’s details, so choose something you can describe comfortably.

What can I say when a client mentions late deliveries?

Show that you understand, then make a connection to your own work. For example: “Our clients have the same problem with shipment delays.” Simply saying “I agree” doesn’t explain what you have in common. A specific shared challenge gives you something useful to discuss next.

How do I suggest a follow-up call after a conference?

Make the invitation clear and add a timeframe: “Could we have a short call next Tuesday?” or “Would you have time for a video call next week?” Share a way to contact you as well. Giving your details alone doesn’t make it clear that you want to talk again.
